Finca El Naranjo
Maple Syrup, Dark Chocolate, Raspberry, Lemon, Marzipan
This microlot produced by José Abelardo Guar Ultengo is a beautiful washed coffee that came out so good it won the 4th place in Best of Cauca competition, where we discovered it. José’s plot might only be 1 hectare small, but his commitment to growing the finest coffee shines through this cup. Finca El Naranjo is a balanced Colombian that will taste great as a filter, bold sparkling espresso or a smooth flat white bringing out the sweeter notes.
José Abelardo Guar Ultengo
It’s always a joy to discover microlots from small producers like José Abelardo Guar Ultengo. José is a coffee grower from the village of Santa Teresa Municipality of Inza, Cauca region. During his first harvest in 2005, José joined the Cooperativa de Cafocultores del Cauca to hone his skills of managing the farm, processing coffee and proper storage. José participated with Finca El Naranjo in the Best of Cauca competition that searches for unique microlots from the region. We cupped this then and knew instantly that it’s a keeper.
This coffee is your chance to taste a classic washed Colombian, known for their high quality coming from meticulous farming and processing. We just cannot stop talking about how balanced this coffee is! The bold body compliments the fruity acidity nicely, creating a complex cup you will happily drink day after day. Think chocolate and caramel notes rolling over your palate, an aroma of orange blossom and ginger cookies, with a smooth marzipan finish.
