Brown Butter, Tobacco, Cacao & Leather
This coffee has a distinct rich and complex aroma of tobacco, leather and brown butter. Perfect if you like a fuller flavour and low acidity in your cup. We find its earthy tones perfectly complementing the rich crema.
This coffee is sold out due to the current delays in the supply chain that are affecting the market. We're hoping to bring it back on the menu in October, so hang in there!
Sierra Maestra Mountains
This coffee is cultivated high in the Sierra Maestra Mountains without the use of any chemical products and is handpicked due to steep slopes.
The impressive mountain range runs westward across the south of the old Oriente Province, rising abruptly from the coast. The country’s climate and soil conditions (mostly rich red humus laden soils) make for an almost faultless production. The export of coffee has been regulated by the government for many years, so sourcing directly from individual farmers is impossible for now.
The relatively low altitudes of 1,700m give this bean a lower acidity and fine flavours. The tobacco flavour comes from neighbouring tobacco plantations. You’ll get a full flavoured syrupy coffee with hints of cane and cocoa, with a lingering clean and crisp aftertaste. It’s definitely not for faint hearted – we can see the master Hemingway himself sipping this coffee in a cane chair on his verandah. If you prefer lighter and cleaner coffees, we suggest you try our Ethiopian or Brazilian single origins.
