The story of Don Pepe Micromill would make a great movie. Picture our supplier’s green bean buyer Piero doing fieldwork in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica. His rented Land Cruiser blows a tire. And who drives by but the man himself, Don Cesar Urena. With an impressive moustache and kind eyes, Don Cesar took Piero back to his home to fix his tyre. By chance (just like some of the best things in life), Piero looked around and saw raised beds with an incredibly impressive looking cherry selection on them. The rest is history.
Our coffee supplier has formed a strong bond with Don Cesar Urena to the point where they import nearly all of Don Cesar’s coffee. And we are lucky enough to be able to get our hands on some of this delicious coffee. Don Cesar’s natural and honey processing is ingenious and he continually educates his partner farms in cherry selection to ensure all the cherries that go through this mill are of the ideal ripened state.
Displaying flavours of fruit and nut dark chocolate along with stewed elderberry, this coffee has a winey acidity that will have you coming back for cup after cup. Suitable for all brew methods we recommend drinking this coffee black or as a piccolo to fully enjoy all the flavour profiles it offers.
