Strawberries & Cream, Mandarin, Peach, Jasmine, Tropical Fruit
If you like things fruity, this Ethiopian is perfect for you. Aricha is a crisp, naturally processed coffee with an aromatic and sweet floral cup. It is produced on small, family-owned garden plots in the Yirgacheffe District that is known for extraordinary coffee.
Regional small lot farmers of Gedeo
The coffee grows at high altitudes between 2000 to 2200 metres in small gardens belonging to families who live around the ‘kabele’ (town) of Aricha.
Once harvested, the coffee cherries are sold to the local milling station Alemayehu Urdofa which services the surrounding community made up of 1,200 small-holder growers. There, they are sorted by hand before being sun dried for 4 – 6 weeks on African raised beds. Aricha people are coffee farmers by birth and produce some of the finest cups in Ethiopia.
This coffee from the Yirgacheffe region is a “natural” or dry-processed coffee. During the dried-in-the-fruit or “natural” process, the beans stay inside the fruit, encouraging a deeper-toned floral and fruit character.
Aricha is perfect for filter brewing, so grab your V60 or AeroPress kits and taste all the subtle notes.
Saying that, thanks to the great balance this coffee holds, it will be good no matter how it’s brewed.
